The Case for CLS......Reducing FX Settlement Risk
Kristiina Kurki-Suonio, Relationship Manager, CLS-Bank International

CLS is the established market standard for FX settlement within the banking community, and as asset managers move to CLS, they are increasing STP and vastly reducing FX settlement failure. This session will provide an educational refresher on the basics of CLS and a look at the future, answering questions such as:

- What does CLS do today?

- What are CLS membership criteria and how do firms participate?

- What currencies are covered and what currencies are planned for the future?

- What is the value proposition for Investment Managers?

- What is happening in the FX-related regulatory environment?

SDA? The Debate Continues?.?
Jeffrey T. Zoller, Chair, AMF SDA Working Group

As we discussed and ?debated? at our March 2010 Industry Forum in Boston, our industry continues to seek ways to improve market efficiency and reduce risk. Our panel addressed the potential benefits and challenges of ?Same Day Affirmation? (SDA) as a means to reducing settlement fails and processing costs for US trades.

During the June General Session, we will address questions raised in March and also:

- Discuss the AMF?s SDA Working Group?s initial recommendation on SDA

- Discuss the ?delivery order? process and uncover the truth about how un-affirmed trades really settle!

- Discuss where SDA fits into the ?life of a trade?

We are excited to continue this discussion at the June Industry Forum & Working Group Meeting in Scottsdale, June 6-8.

Achieving Transparency Through Standards: The Road to Global Harmonization or Bulldozing the Playing Field?

Dayle Scher, Research Director, TowerGroup

As the securities and investments industry braces itself for new regulations intended to protect investors and prevent another financial crisis, there is a confluence of standards changes on the more immediate horizon. How financial firms react, prepare and demonstrate their readiness for these initiatives will mean the difference to institutional clients and their agents.

This session will address the following questions:

- What are the standards initiatives that will impact the industry in the coming 1-3 years?

- What does the securities industry need to do to respond to the global proposals?

- How can technology be leveraged by institutions to meet the new requirements, and how can vendors take a leadership role?
