The EU’s response to the 2009 G20 Pittsburgh Commitments to strengthen investor protection, sustain the integrity of price formation, and promote competition in financial markets.
  • The Operational Challenges of Alternative Investments, Jon Chandler, Senior Research Analyst, Cutter Associates
The search for alpha, along with pressure to diversify portfolios, has driven many investment managers to invest more heavily in alternative assets. But these instruments are often complex and opaque, and they are generating intensifying scrutiny from regulators and clients. This session will explore the challenges these assets present to operations, with a focus on OTC derivatives, private equity, and real estate. Jon will examine industry trends and software tools that investment managers are exploring to help them track positions, monitor risk and performance, and improve reporting. He will also talk about the recent regulatory changes impacting OTC derivatives and why those changes are driving many firms to review their internal processes.
